Proudly supported by the Near North District School Board, this summer’s Theatre Outreach on Stage (TOROS) musical performance of All Shook Up! will run from August 4-7 at 7:30 p.m. and on August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Capitol Centre. Since the beginning of July, 70 students have been spending their summer rehearsing their lines and songs in preparation for the upcomingshow. The production is based on William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night and written to Elvis Presley’s greatest hits. Students from Silver Birches Senior Public School, W.J. Fricker Senior Public School, Chippewa Secondary School, West Ferris Secondary School, Widdifield Secondary School, École Secondaire Algonquin and École publique Odyssée make up this year’s TOROS ensemble. Students are able to earn secondary school credits, while gaining valuable, top-notch theatre experience. There is a group of 16 staff and 20 volunteers who are responsible for set design and costumes. They work with students to perfect their skills in acting, singing and dance. In addition, there is a 10 piece jazz band that will accompany performers. |
